3 Definition: is a term used to describe a pattern of disordered language use that is presumed to reflect disordered thinking. It is usually considered a symptom of psychotic mental illness although occasionally appears in other conditions. It is also known as knight's move thinking referring to the nonlinear way a knight moves in chess.

delirium due to medical conditions (such as encephalitis, inflammation of the brain) Alzheimer's disease cancer endocrine disorders kidney failure closed head injuries

9 Causes/associated factors
other medical conditions sleep deprivation intoxication or long-term substance abuse steroid overuse or toxicity poisoning from substances such as lead, mercury, aluminum or arsenic electrolyte imbalance
