Turtle Bayou Resolutions On June 13, 1832 the first real serious conflict happened at Anahuac Settlers accused Mexican government of taking supplies and refusing to give up runaway slaves Mexican officials also collected duties on imported items from US Two settlers were arrested and colonists realized they needed more firepower for defense Went to Brazoria and brought back a cannon While colonists waited for the cannon they adopted several statements known as the Turtle Bayou Resolutions The colonists declared their loyalty to Mexico and denied that they were rebelling against Mexican authority. Sort of lying.

Write it down. Arrest of Stephen F. Austin In 1834, Austin traveled to Mexico to deliver the Turtle Bayou Resolutions. When he arrived, Santa Anna had taken over the Mexican Government. Santa Anna made him wait too long. Austin sent a letter back to Texas telling them to establish a state government. Austin then met with Santa Anna who agreed with many of the grievances. Austin was arrested for treason on his way back to Texas because of the letter he sent.
