We hate the word
scrutiny …….but …..
“Tenant Scrutiny is about tenants & service users being actively involved in the self-assessment process. Where they independently review how housing services are being delivered & even more importantly how they can be improved”

4. What’s it all about?
TP since 2001, Social Landlords, “Must consult their tenants on any proposed changes to housing management, policies and conditions”
Scrutiny is “Landlord self-assessment and customer involvement in the assessment and review of housing services”
Tenant Scrutiny gives tenants:
Greater influence and ability to hold landlord to account
Opportunity to influence business decisions, governance and performance.

5. Where are you on your scrutiny journey?
Timing – am
Draw map 10 minutes
Feedback 10 minutes
Working on their own or in landlord groups, ask delegates to draw a map of their scrutiny journey (A3 paper and coloured pens will be provided)
Delegates should plot where the following groups are on the map:
Organisational staff
Tenants groups
Individual tenants
Management board / elected members
They should think about key illustrations eg
Roundabout – going round and round
T junction – not sure what direction to take
In a road block – going no where
On motorway – speeding ahead
On an A road – getting there but taking time
Service station – needing a rest
Take feedback to the whole group (You may not have tome to get through everyone).
Circulate stock take handout for use in the organisation (reference only, not for use in workshop)
