3 My Commitment to Education
Rigorous in the application of higher-order skills, particularly in selecting activities and materials for students that are challenging and elicit a variety of thinking. Challenge students to analyze, compare and contrast, evaluate and explain information orally and in writing on a daily basis.

12 Science STEAM Next Generation Science Standards Project Based Learning
Notebooks STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Math Support an argument that the apparent brightness of the sun and stars is due to their relative distances from the Earth. Represent data in graphical displays to reveal patterns of daily changes in length and direction of shadows, day and night, and the seasonal appearance of some stars in the night sky.

15 Helping your child at home
Conversations Tell me about what you are reading Tell me about the characters, relationships, events or information. What do you think about that? How does what your reading connect to what you know or help you understand in the world around you? How can you say that in a different way? Read the same book and discuss.

16 PE Running shoes Injuries
Parents may excuse a child from P.E. for up to 3 days. After three days, a doctor’s note is needed with dates for non-participation Injuries: need a parent note rest at recess/lunch recess

17 Organization and Responsibility
Student Planner Completing work is key to success Expectations of work and deadlines are clear Success in middle school and beyond Agenda – We record in it daily, it is meant to be a support for home. This is a location you can check for homework, missed work, upcoming tests. It is important to your child’s success, but is also helpful to us if you are signing it daily and monitoring completion of work. They need to get their own papers and keep track of them!
