PFRA/APSFR 2011 Danube River Basin
Based on results of 20th FP EG Meeting Igor Liska, Alex Höbart, ICPDR 10th WGF Meeting 19 – 20 October 2011
2
PFRA report Introduction Overall approach and methodology of PFRA
Historical floods in the Danube River Basin Potential adverse consequences of future floods APSFR (methodology: national & for DRB map) Impacts of climate change Transboundary coordination & information exchange Supporting transboundary activities Conclusions
3
PFRA map Agreement on DanubeGIS template attributes
Agreement on need for a common cross-border coding of transboundary APSFR Recommendations for different reporting shapes: Areas >=100km² as polygons River stretches >= 50 river-km as lines Areas < 100km² and river stretches < 50 river-km as points Prepare one map using DRBMP 2009 base layers, displaying all identified APSFR, transboundary ones distinguished in different color
4
APSFR template attributes
Name (optional) Unique code at European level / at national level Transboundary yes/no (Does the APSFR cross a country border?) If yes: agreed cross-border code Report year Code of water body/bodies which is/are probably affected by a recurrence of the flood (optional) Flood type (at least code from group A11-A17) Latitude, Longitude RBD code
5
Draft data available Overview on records in delivered datasets
7
Common coding of transb. APSFR
Cross-border code for transb. APSFR should be agreed on bilateral (in few cases: multilateral) level. Suggestion: combine country codes and commonly agreed short name or code, e.g. ATDE_Example Available draft data :

Transboundary APSFR Transboundary APSFR is any area (in the transboundary reach of a river) which has been assigned as transboundary APSFR by at least one country (orange on top of red) and this assignment was discussed at the bilateral level. If the transboundary character of an APSFR is regarded as not yet agreed by one country, this will be shown on the map (purple on top of orange) For a river crossing a border, the area of common interest will be assigned as transboundary APSFR. The extent of this area of common interest has to be agreed by the neighboring countries.
