Matthew 27: Before Pilate
1. He sends Jesus to Herod for trial (Luke 23:6) 2. He demands the Jews try Jesus by their own laws 3. He offers to release Jesus according to custom 4. He makes the counter-offer to release Barabbas instead 5. He abuses Jesus as “King”, and says “Behold the Man” 6. He orders the Jews to crucify Jesus 7. He made other unrecorded attempts to release (John 19:12)

Seizing Promises Both these men saw a promise of God and worked to understand what it meant. Then they prayed (their part) knowing that God had spoken to them, and that their effort was now required. This teaches us several things: God’s promises are not unconditional, and that prayer is not a petition to God, it is a response to God.

Understanding But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 Manifested through Scriptural knowledge 2 Timothy 3:15 2Ti 3:15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus

Seizing Promises Means:
First: knowing what God has promised He has not promised: Financial success Happiness in all things Victory in this life 2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Belief with Confession – if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; Romans 10:9 2Ti 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

Belief with Confession and Repentance – "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, Acts 17:30 2Ti 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
