1 March 2, 2012 Aim: Students will be able to identify and apply rhyme pattern.
Standards 7RL4. Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative and connotative meanings; analyze the impact of rhymes and other repetitions of sounds (e.g., alliteration) on a specific verse or stanza of a poem or section of a story or drama. Do Now: His foot was as smooth as sandpaper. does it MEAN? Love is a battlefield. what does it MEAN?

2 Rhyme Pattern (MYO Reference Sheet)
Rhyme scheme is the pattern of rhyme between lines of a poem or song. It is usually referred to by using letters to indicate which lines rhyme. In other words, it is the pattern of rhyming lines. (END WORDS)

3 Rhyme Pattern “A,B,A,B,” indicates a four-line stanza in which the first and third lines rhyme, as do the second and fourth.
