Location: Regions south of the ice caps in the Artic, in North America, Europe, and Siberia.
Description: Coldest biome, covers 1/5 of the Earth. Plants: lichens, mosses, grasses, sedges, shrubs. There are almost no trees due to short growing season and permafrost Animals: Every animal must adapt in order to survive. Some have grown thick fur which turns white in the winter. Others must find a place to hibernate. Tundra

What is an ecosystem? Picture a tiny world inside the Earth.
This smaller world of ecosystem has living things (plants and animals) which interact with non-living elements (water, rocks, soil and temperature). An ecosystem must contain producers, consumers, decomposers, and dead and inorganic matter. All ecosystems require energy from an external source, usually the sun.
11
All the biotic (living) and abiotic (nonliving) factors that will interact with each other.
Abiotic factors: soil, water, temperature, elevation, and location on the earth. Ecosystems

Yellowstone National Park Ecosystem
The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) is one of the last remaining large, nearly intact ecosystems in the northern temperate zone of the Earth. It is located within the northern Rocky Mountains and is about 18 million acres. Click on image to read more about the park and ecosystem there… Yellowstone National Park Ecosystem
