6 Key Aspects of DoorWays Counselling
Respect Seeing problems and people as separate Collaboration Transparency Guiding / facilitating Listening for values, commitments and preferences Listening for skills and abilities A competency-focused curiosity Not knowing yet / non-expert stance Keeping the pace slow even though it is based on “60” minutes

7 What is Single Session Counselling? What to Expect …
A complete, one at a time counselling experience with an awareness that you can return again sometime in the future if you so desire. Happens at the time of the individual’s choosing. Uses the skills that both the individual and the counselor bring to the session. Focuses on an issue that the Client wishes to discuss TODAY. Sessions are strengths based and solution focused. That you will leave the session with a “Plan of Action” designed to address the chosen issue. A copy is provided when safe to do so.

8 What if I need more ? If at the end of the session, if it is determined that the individual requires or requests longer term counselling or additional resources and/ or supports, the Counselor will assist with this This will then be incorporated into the “Take Away Plan” Individuals will be provided information on how to access or be linked with those services, resources or supports as appropriate.
