4 What Shall I Say? ? ?

5 How to Reach the Lost MOTIVATION: MESSAGE: What to say to the lost

6 When God Calls Men…. Exodus 3:13 …”what shall I say to them?“ Joshua 7:8 “what shall I say?” Jeremiah 1:6 “I cannot speak” Luke 12:11 “do not worry what you will say” Motivation is perhaps what is missing the most in our personal evangelism. Today we will focus in on the three things we need to be motivated to reach the lost. We need all three, but we will see an example of a succesful evangelist with only one of these qualities, because…….. The premise of the lesson is that the more we understand our salvation is not corporate, but individual, the more we realize that our works (specificially to these two lessons, evangelism) are better accomplished personally. This is not to say that the church lacks the authority for evangelism, but that the individual is better equipped and more directed to this work than the church. The church prepares the individual christian for evangelism (Eph 4), not vice versa

7 When God Calls Men…. Many worried about what to say God said “Don’t”!

8 Sometimes Simply.. Living your life Asking what is being read Asking for a drink of water Remarking on religion in general

9 The Point Is….. There is no single way to share the Gospel Not doing anything will NEVER work

10 One Example: A Conversion Conversation
A conversational approach to engage Non-confrontational, casual Requires remembering only one verse

11 Conversion Conversation
Part I – Engaging someone Have them tell you their experience Make them firmly establish a moment Listen to them

12 Conversion Conversation
Part II – A reasonable reply Explain how YOU came to know God Acts 15:11 – saved the same way Write it in your Bible to remember

13 Conversion Conversation
Begin with I John 5:13 – “You can KNOW” “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life….”

14 Conversion Conversation
What is written? John 8:24 "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."

15 Conversion Conversation
Who is Jesus? Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

16 Conversion Conversation
What else do I need to believe? John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

17 Conversion Conversation
Who is the “Word of God”? John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

18 Conversion Conversation
Was Jesus God while on the earth? Colossians 2:9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;

19 Conversion Conversation
Is there more we need to know about God? Matthew 3:16-17 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

20 Conversion Conversation
What else is Jesus? 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus

21 Conversion Conversation
Why do I need a mediator? Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.

22 Conversion Conversation
Will God fix this problem? Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

23 Conversion Conversation
What is the Gospel? 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

24 Conversion Conversation
Explain to me the parts of the Gospel Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

25 Conversion Conversation
Why is Jesus’ death/blood important? Jude 1:24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,

26 Conversion Conversation
Why is Jesus’ resurrection important? 1 Corinthians 15:20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

27 Conversion Conversation
What does the Gospel do? 2 Timothy 1:10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,

28 Conversion Conversation
How does the Gospel begin to do this? Romans 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

29 Conversion Conversation
Is confession all that is necessary? Luke 13:3 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

30 Conversion Conversation
What does repentance mean? Ephesians 5:5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

31 Conversion Conversation
Is confession and repentance enough? 2 Thessalonians 1:8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

32 Conversion Conversation
How can someone “obey” the “Gospel”? Romans 6:3-4 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

33 Conversion Conversation
What happens when I obey this Gospel? Romans 6:17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

34 Conversion Conversation
So when do I actually become a Christian? Galatians 3:26-27 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

35 Conversion Conversation
Is it hard being a Christian? John 15:20 "Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

36 Conversion Conversation
What might it cost to be a Christian? Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.

37 Conversion Conversation
Can I choose to quit being a Christian? 2 Peter 2:21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.

38 Conversion Conversation
What should I do now? Acts 22:16 'And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.'

39 Conversion Conversation
What should I do now? Acts 22:16 'And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.'
