Using Proximity Labeling to Analyze the Protein-Protein Interaction Network of RNP Granules
(A) Proximity labeling strategy to identify interactors. A bait protein is fused to an enzyme (APEX, BirA∗) that generates reactive derivatives of biotin. After labeling, the biotinylated proteins are isolated and identified by mass spectrometry.
(B–E) Use of proximity labeling to better understand different aspects of RNP granules, such as the formation of different types of RNP granules (B), RNP granule formation under different conditions (C) or in different cell types (D), or RNP granule differences between healthy and sick cells (E).
