3 Who Can Appeal? Appeals for Merit Scholarships are done on a case by case basis determined by the Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Students should contact the Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships via or phone to obtain an appeal form Student must submit an appeal form and provide written documentation to support their appeal

4 Circumstances for Appeal
An appeal must be based on significant mitigating circumstances. These are circumstances that seriously affected your academic performance. Examples of possible mitigating circumstances are, but not limited to: Serious illness Severe injury Death of a family member, and other similar situations

5 Documentation Required for Appeal
Student must provide documentation to support their appeal Examples of supporting documentation are: A letter from a University official who is familiar with the student’s situation OR Letter from a physician, counselor, clergy, etc. who can verify the student’s appeal

6 Additional Documentation for Appeal
On a separate sheet of paper the students must answer and provide documentation for BOTH of the following: Student must describe in detail the mitigating circumstances and how they impacted their performance. Supporting documentation for this claim must be attached Student must provide a detailed plan describing the steps they have taken, or will take, to correct the circumstances and improve their academic performance for future terms

7 Appeal Submission Student must submit all materials as a single packet to the Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships Any missing information will delay consideration of the student’s request
