Scholastic Reading Counts Software Program Students read books and take a test showing their comprehension Promote the program, manage the data and achievement awards Authors in April Work and coordinate with the PTA Preparing students and facilitating the three authors’ presentation Virtual Field Trips Coordinate funding with the PTA Identify curricular need, plan for students, and facilitate the event Daily 5th Grade News Maintain Newsroom and equipment Support News Show Bookfair Work and coordinate with the PTA Preparing students and facilitating the event Sole Source of funding for library book collection iPod Shuffle Check Out/Check In Acquire permission slips Load chosen Audiobook

Media Staff 1 full time Media Specialist
1 part time Technician Assistant Tuesday to Friday 4 hours per day Volunteers Parents and community members On average 2 volunteers per day for 1 hour each About 20 different volunteers participate Solicit, schedule, train and manage volunteers Volunteer availability causes additional challenges

Questions Who would be supporting the teachers for technology integration? Who would be running the many enrichment programs in each of the schools? Who would be developing the library collection for the student population, classroom and community needs? Who would be suggesting appropriate books for reading level or development for our students and teachers? Who would be teaching the Media program guidelines to our students? Who would provide authentic cross-curricular technology integration exposure for all students? Who would be preparing our students for learning in the 21st Century?
