Being SAFE in the Playground
14/01/19 In order to reduce the number of incidents in our playgrounds, the school council have been working with teachers and adults to make break and lunchtimes safer

These are the exact times pupils are expected to end break/lunch and start their learning. We’re getting better and better at this each day!

Teachers and other adults teaching ‘good play’ in lessons
Organisation of KS2 playgrounds (see playground plans below) Organised Football (overseen by TA) Led by play leaders Referee Bibs - collected and put away on whistle 1 Football rules Game stopped if Kingsley values are not followed - in particular, inclusion, safe, respect, empowerment, nurture Activities Pupil-led, but overseen/regularly checked by TA Playground leaders 10 per YG bt YGLs Trained by ELSAs Wearing blue hi-viz jackets Friendship bench in each playground Activities for break and lunch

Games room A safe space for pupils at lunch/break
A space to reflect on behaviour not in-line with Kingsley Values Pupils can be referred Supervised by Phase Leaders and SLT Common Room A quiet space for reading and silent games (chess etc) Pupils can request to use the common room after they have eaten their lunch They must stay for the duration of their break or lunch (from straight after they’ve eaten to five minutes before their first whistle - when they make their way out to their line) Supervised by SLT/phase leaders Quiet board games Indoor activities for pupils
