Teacher (narrator) chooses the cast (mafia, doctor, police) by first announcing the student’s roles one by one and then touching them on the back. If any student peeks at any stage, then the game must start again. Note: Poker cards depicting each role can be dealt – K mafia (usually 2, up to 4), Q doctor (1), J police (1) and numbered cards as citizens but cards might be difficult to get back if playing with young children. In this case, S’s must keep their cards hidden, not revealing them to their neighbor.

Most of this is imaginary. Accusers can give make-believe reasons as why they believe a S is guilty. The accused can defend themselves.

Write student’s names on the board who are chosen as suspects. The 2-3 frequently called names will be voted on by their peers to see if they are guilty or not. 32

33. Let’s take a vote. Save or die?
Students vote ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to save a student due to their appeal. 33

34. Are you Mafia?
If the student is voted out, they reveal if they citizen or Mafia. 34

If the student, whether citizen or mafia is saved, they can oust 1 citizen. They DON’T share if they are mafia or not. 35
