2. Terms to remember Ambiguity: when things are unclear
Uncanny Valley: something that looks and feels normal, but is off in some way.
Cognitive Dissonance: Discomfort experienced by an individual who holds two or more contradicting beliefs.

3. “The Night Wire”
In this story, H.F. Arnold uses ambiguity in a different way; there is a voice in the story relaying events in real time to the narrator which he is not experiencing firsthand.
Therefore, the reader is left with strange and mysterious images and a feeling of uncertainty as to whether or not they actually exist in the story’s world.
As we read “The Night Wire,” I want you to visualize what is happening with each news drop. Beneath each illustration, write the quote you are referring to.

4. Twilight Zone “The Living Doll”
We are now going to watch a classic Twilight Zone episode. You are then going to have to write a description of a scene, so pay close attention to when the father forces the doll into the vice grip in the garage and threatens it with a blowtorch.

5. Now, I am going to give you a storyboard from the film
Now, I am going to give you a storyboard from the film. I want you to write a paragraph of the story. I am looking for details that create a sense of terror or suspense. For help, try to focus on at least one of the three ways to create terror:
