An appropriately sized polytetrafluoroethylene (Gore-Tex; WL Gore and Associates, Flagstaff, Ariz) patch is sutured to the margins of the surgically created defect in the diaphragm after making multiple punch holes in the patch using a 4-mm aortic punch.
