Bill Balint Bill Balint has been IUP’s Chief Information Officer since He has worked at the university since Bill oversees all technological needs of IUP’s faculty, students and staff. Bill won many awards including the 2015 Emeriti Award recipient at the Pennsylvania Banner User Group conference. He was a founding member of the user group in 1999. Bill also won the 2016 Pittsburgh Chief Information Officer of the year award.

Alice Faraone Alice Faraone is Assistant Director of Business Intelligence and Database Administration at Villanova University. Alice is also Vice President of PABUG where she assists the PABUG President and serves as the President Elect. Alice will be the President of PABUG next year.

Karl Horvath Karl is Chief Information Officer at La Salle University, previously CIO at Gwynedd Mercy University and worked for Computer Services at Temple University. Karl volunteers service for PA higher education organizations such as AICUP and KINBER.

Cindy Leavitt Cindy is Vice President for Computer Services and CIO at Temple University. Prior to Temple Cindy held senior IT positions at University of Michigan and has extensive experience in leadership and strategy at large, nationally respected, public, research universities.

Dan McGee Dan is AVP of Strategic Planning at Villanova University and develops long-range IT plans that ensure that IT resources advance the University strategy and goals. Dan explores and considers Emerging technology developments to discover new capabilities contribute to achieving University goals.

Casey Petroski Casey is Data Governance Manager at Lehigh University. Casey also has experience in Systems, Software Implementation and Educational Leadership.

Mark Purcell Mark is Executive Director of IT Security and Compliance at La Salle University. Mark has extensive experience in higher education, technology standards, and government policy and compliance. Prior to his current role Mark economically and efficiently supported Banner with a small team for La Salle for many years before Banner was moved off campus to a cloud hosted environment.

Helen Sanders Helen is Assistant Director Applications and Data Services at Temple University. Helen has many years of experience in software and application development and supports multiple administrative offices at Temple University. Helen is also Vice President of the Network of Women with Careers in Technology (NWCT).

Title: Knock their SOCs Off Presenter: Mark Purcell, Executive Director of IT Security and Compliance – La Salle University Day/Time: Monday 11/19 10:00am to 10:50am Room Location: Lancaster 100 Session Number: 1047 Description: With statistics indicating that vendors are involved in up to 70% of data breaches and increasing reliance on cloud services, vendor risk management, including the evaluation of Service Organization Controls (SOC) reports, is critical. This presentation covers vendor risk assessment and due diligence including the EDUCAUSE Higher Education Cloud Vendor Assessment Tool (HECVAT), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) requirements and SOC reviews.
