9 Honors Chorus Register at pay, and postmark registration by midnight, Sept.10 Audition fee of $20.00 per student, school/booster check or money order only. You can bring up to 10% of your CHORAL enrollment (Ex: 1-14 enrolled=1 audition, enrolled=2 auditions, enrolled=3 auditions, etc.) Count each student only once no matter how many classes they are in! Audition sites alternate yearly: Odd Years – East: Thursday, Central: Friday, West: Saturday Even Years – West: Thursday, Central: Friday, East: Saturday Sites: East: Meredith College, Raleigh, NC Central: UNC-Greensboro, Greensboro, NC West: St. Luke United Methodist, Hickory, NC (West sites vary year-to-year) Contents

Honors Chorus Auditions (about 6 minutes) include: Vocalizing (for range only), Singing vocal part from audition piece, and sight singing (tracks are available for download to practice the sight singing audition process) Audition results will be sent by , send $20.00 registration fee per student postmarked by Honors Chorus Coordinator’s designated postmark deadline. ** For Schools with Seated Singers ** J.W. Pepper will send music packets directly to your school – you don’t have to order, but you do have to pay! You may need to secure a PO number. Honors Chorus convenes Saturday and Sunday at the beginning of Conference (early November in Winston Salem) Singers are mixed and screened – so make sure your students know their stuff! for details Contents

12 All-State Chorus To benefit NEW TEACHERS, deadline for registration is December 1 Register at $30.00 non-refundable registration fee for each choir These fees will be applied to your total fees, which are $30.00 per seated student due by All-State Coordinator’s designated postmark deadline. Allotments are assigned by enrollment. You’ll know by Feb. 1 When submitting chorus program enrollment, count each student only once no matter how many classes they are in! Contents

13 All-State Chorus All-State convenes in Charlotte in April/May Contents
You choose which choirs you participate in. You select your singers for up to three choirs this year: TTBB (9-12), SSA (9-12), SATB (9-12) You must assign one student to each voice part in a choir before you can duplicate a voice part assignment. Programs with 24 or fewer students may not be guaranteed a slot in every choir, and will be refunded registration fees if their enrollment is not sufficient to allow for one slot in every choir. Your students must attend a three hour District Rehearsal. All-State convenes in Charlotte in April/May Contents

14 All-State Chorus Your school must have participated in an MPA within the last two years: Solo/Small Ensemble or Large Ensemble Two exceptions: 1. New School or 2. Teacher’s 1st year at the school – if the school went to MPA last year and you have the information, go ahead and submit it! Once you receive your allotments, select your students and order your music. J.W. Pepper has the repertoire lists, but you are responsible for acquiring the music. Singers are screened, so make sure they know their stuff! See for details. Contents

16 Music Performance Adjudication (MPA) LARGE ENSEMBLE
Register with your Site Chairperson by February 1 Registration is ONLINE ONLY See and click on MPA Calendar for dates and contact information and to download the MPA Approved Repertoire List $ per ensemble No size limitation (small ensemble is considered up to 24) Perform two memorized selections: One MUST be from the MPA Approved Repertoire List, the other can be off the list, but of comparable difficulty (exception: Comments Only or Grade 1, in which case BOTH songs should be OFF the list) Sight singing is optional: one rhythmic exercise and one singing exercise in a voicing/difficulty level selected by the choral director, The difficulty levels do not need to be the same for both types of sight singing. “Retired” sight singing is available online through Bethany Jennings. 20 Helpful Hints and Sites
– an educational “Facebook” - have students enter a code, click record simultaneously, and video record each individual in your choir individually while they are singing in the choir! All at once! – create your own website (if your district allows) – a great way to send group texts to parents and students – great resource with excellent graphics – upload videos and imbed questions for students – collect topical links on a related image for your students - needs to be activated at a district level! – easy way to create rehearsal tracks!
