11. How can we organize all these ideas?
Some of these organisms are alike and some are very different.
Scientists want to classify these organisms to show these similarities and differences
We will do the same thing using a sorting chart
But how do we make a sorting chart…?

12. Sorting Charts First, we look at all the organisms
Second, we try to find similarities and differences amongst the groups
Third, we write a question that can only be answered with a “yes” or a “no”
We separate the organisms according to the answer to the question
If more than one organism is in a box, we continue on with the questions until there is only one organism in each box.
