1 Cluster Counting Drift Chamber as high precision tracker for ILC experiments G.F. Tassielli(1,2) (1) Dipartimento di Fisica dell’Universita’ del Salento, Italy; (2) INFN Sezione di Lecce, Italy Cell layout at Z=0 Gas Mixture 90% Helium – 10% C4H10; Hexagonal cells; Cell height cm, Cell side 4-6 mm; 24 superlayers with 10 rings; Stereo angle ±(55-210) mrad (drop δ=4cm); µm W sense wires; µm Al field wires; Active volume >90%; Radius: Inner 19cm, outer 150cm; Spherical EndCaps (R=2.12); Length: barrel region 300cm, total 428 cm; Light Structure: Gas + Wires + Inner wall are equivalent to X0 for a =90º track. 4th-Concept at inner wall (0.001 X0) made of 200 μm carbon fiber foil covered by a 30 μm Aluminum; outer wall (0.020 X0) made of 6 carbon fiber aluminum hexcell sandwich panels held by structural staves of unidimensional carbon fibers; end caps (0.029 X0) made by 5 mm carbon fiber; tt 6jets

Simulation and Reconstruction made by using ILCRoot framework Single cell spatial resolution 55 µm Low momenta reconstruction efficiency Magnetic field: DCH 3.5 T Si detectors 5 T Low mass advantage (b) with first 2 clusters (b) with first 4 clusters (b) with all clusters 69 m 56 m 49 m 1st cluster 2nd cluster Cluster Counting theoretically can improve single cell spatial resolution Cluster Counting experimentally improve Particle IDentification For 1.5 m of track the are ~ 2000 clusters : MIN A386 (1997)
