The state flower of North Dakota is the “Wild Prairie Rose”. The state bird of North Dakota is the Western Meadowlark.

The state tree is the American elm. The nickname for North Dakota is the “Flickertail State”. Number of Colleges - There are 20 colleges in North Dakota.

Famous Person, Philip Douglas Jackson.
He was born in my state, North Dakota! He was a former American professional basketball player, and then a coach. He lead some teams like the Chicago Bulls in the NBA.

Famous Person, Darin Erstad.
Darin Erstad spent 14 years in Major League Baseball. He got 123 home runs and 690 RBIs in his career.

Favorite College. University of North Dakota
One reason why is it’s the oldest college in North Dakota, established 6 years before North Dakota became a state! My second(and last) reason is it offered free housing to students during the Great Depression. How kind.

Fun Facts: North Dakota had the the world's largest hamburger . The hamburger was cooked in a 16 foot pan and a crane was used to flip it over. It weighed 3591 pounds! One February 17, 2007, 8962 people together made snow angels at once, this broke a record.
