6 The Geography of Greece has shaped the cultures which have grown there
The Geography of Greece has shaped the cultures which have grown there. It is made up of hundreds of islands as well as a rocky and mountainous mainland. Unlike the other civilizations we have studied, Greece is not centered on a river valley and was unable to support large scale agriculture. Therefore the sea formed the core upon which Greek civilization grew.
