Topic One The extruder has been delivered to FNAL(February 24 2003).
The final decision about extruder purchasing has been made( By April 2002). The extruder has been delivered to FNAL(February ). The extruder has been assembled, debugged for the first test run ( May ). The very first samples have been made(by June 2003) First success ! Die 100 MM x 5 MM.The sample was 44 m of the extrusion with 20 cm measurements ) The collaboration, supported by NICADD, between NICADD NIU and Engineering Department NIU has been established by September 2002. The simulations of the different dies have been performed and 2*1 cm2 die has been cut at FNAL site.( ). Very preliminary tests of the new die has been carried out and the results being presented. 5/6/2019

Topic two. Where we are now.
Extruder: No problems with new hopper so far. The Scintillator light output of the NICADD-FNAL is comparable with Kuraray SCSN-81 . Experience with the new die: We accumulated some experience working with the new die. There is some indication on the improvements: Sharp edges, Smooth surface. Problems: The size of the extruded profile is still bigger than we expected (new calibrator). The hole is oval (the needle shape change). We have to get some recommendation from ME in order to take right direction on the test with the new die. (how to squish the needle?) Samples: We made different samples at different boundary conditions. 5/6/2019
