Reason for Project Virgin concrete hauled into the landfill cost $24.00 per ton. It cost Pasquotank County approximately $6.50 to $8.50 per ton to have concrete processed on site.

Past five years Pasquotank County recently began to stockpile and grind clean concrete Previously the material was buried on the C&D landfill To date 19,321 tons of material has been collected and all except what is now on the ground has been grinded and used There is about 1,900 tons of material on site that will be grinded by next summer Comparing what it would cost to process 19,000 tons of concrete at $24.00 per ton ($456,000) to what it cost ($8.50 per ton) to have it grinded ($161,500) we saved $294,500 and was able to use the product in various applications
