Overview We offer different approaches to suit your needs SMS for RSS QR for courses Record attendance Import Self-scan introduces potential fraud issues Talk about SMS coverage limitations at some institutions. QR requiring staff. Record attendance is simple but the operator needs to know what they are doing. Import used for external MECs and similar. Self scan\text introduces the concept of fraud reduction. Till we have biometrics, we will have these challenges.

Activity code for SMS attendance
15
For RSS, should I use ParentID or ChildID?
Must use child activities as a pre-requisite ParentID is easy but more prone to fraud ChildID is less prone to fraud, more work
16
ActivityID vs Activity Code
The approach selected is based on your fraud reduction policies ActivityCode must be enabled in preferences ActivityCode must be unique – you manage ActivityCode is always alphanumeric Length limit of 20 characters You cannot use a mix of ActivityID and ActivityCode ActivityCode may already be reserved for other purposes
17
Dedicated institution number Credit awarded instantly Time window
SMS RSS\Grand Rounds Dedicated institution number Credit awarded instantly Time window During peak use, delays are typical

Self-Scan – QR code printed and posted
QR - Two modes Self-Scan – QR code printed and posted Admin Scan – QR on badge scanned by staff Some clients use QR guns – tied to a web-connected device such as a tablet. Admins cannot scan themselves or other admins for testing or other purposes.

QR – Participant Self Scan

Generating QR Code Badges – Admin Scans

Generating QR Code Badges – Badge template
MS Word file with merge fields You can create your own art, etc. Pay attention to character counts and wrapping If user profile data is inconsistent, you may need to adjust after download
22
Record Attendance Screen
Electronic sign in sheet Bulk operations If you are only adjusting credit for one person (or a few) use the Credit Manager instead Whatever is checked gets credit Whatever is unchecked does not Uses activity setup data – date, amounts
23
Record Attendance Screen - Basics
Credits offered & hours Date defaults to last date of a course Date can be adjusted for other activity types Blue = Attended Whoever is checked off gets credit.
24
Record Attendance Screen – Duplicates - NOT
If a user is eligible for multiple types of credit, there will be a row per credit type for that user. This is normal. It is not a bug.

Use to correct an error on one individual
Credit Manager Use to correct an error on one individual Activity MUST be selected first No constraints Hours Type Date Skip video due to time. Have an activity created already, and load presentations to it as a faculty member, then switch to admin mode, show presentation not published that was loaded as a faculty member. Then upload administratively and show how that presentation is auto-published.

External providers (EdCos, Joint Providers)
Credit Import External providers (EdCos, Joint Providers) Adds user profile if they do not exist Adds registration & credit (comp) CECreditCategoryID

31
Troubleshooting - Basics
User credit eligibility vs. what activity awards? Outside time window? Is no credit awarded if not approved checked? Is no credit till evaluation completed checked? Transpositions \ user errors Delays in SMS response No service
32
Troubleshooting - Basics
URGENT – I wiped out all my credits on Record Attendance. Look at selected date Did the course date change? Did you perform select all unselect and then save when you meant to record just one person
33
Troubleshooting - Basics
“My activity only awards 10 credits but users are receiving 18 credits when they complete the evaluation form?” If you are using multiple sessions, the system will sum all the session hour values together.
34
Troubleshooting - Basics
“I went to evaluations and my evaluation is not displaying” If an evaluation is assigned to an activity, it will only be available if you are registered and your attendance has been recorded.
35
Troubleshooting - Basics
“I am testing my program, in advance. I recorded my attendance and completed the evaluation, but no credit appears on transcript” The date ranges on the transcript have today’s date as the end date by default. If your activity happens in the future, adjust the end date.
