1 THE GIFT OF HOPE Romans 4:18-5:5

2 Hope is the confidence in how it ends that strengthens you to endure how it is.

3 Romans 4:18-25 18In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall

4 your offspring be.” 19He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he

5 considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb
considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. 20No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, 21fully

6 convinced that God was able to do what he had promised
convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. 22That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” 23But the words “it was counted to him”

7 were not written for his sake alone, 24but for ours also
were not written for his sake alone, 24but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, 25who was delivered up

8 for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

9 Hope does not give a reason for the pain, Hope gives a reason to endure the pain.

10 24...It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, 25who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

11 Romans 5:1-2 1Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

12 2Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

13 Revelation 22:1-5 1Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of

14 the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city
the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month.

15 And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations
And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his

16 servants will serve him
servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of

17 the sun, for the Lord God will give them light
the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.

18 Hope does not replace hurt. Hope redeems hurt.

19 3Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,

20 5and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

21 Hurt and hope will fight to direct your life.

22 Hope grows from proof and truth.
