Charles I is known for: Believing very much in the “divine right of kings” Spending a lot of money on art, paintings, poetry, music Waging some poorly planned wars Annoying people so much that eventually he is BEHEADED (and being the only English monarch to EVER be beheaded) AND everyone decides that they are sick of kings, so they abolish the monarchy and spend 11 years with Oliver Cromwell, who is not a king, but a “Lord Protector”. This was called the INTERREGNUM…the only time in the history of Britain that there wasn’t a king or queen.
