A Tangible Faith #2 James 1:2-6 04/15/2018

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. (James 1:2-3)

4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:4-5)

6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. (James 1:6)

Your attitude is determined by your understanding.

1. Problems are inevitable.
33 In the world you will have problems.” (John 16:33) 12 Don’t be surprised when you have problems. (1 Peter 4:12)

2. Problems are unpredictable.

3. Problems are purposeful.

Three purposes of problems in your life:
1. Problems purify faith. 10 He has tested me through the refining fire and I have come out as pure gold.” (Job 23:10)

2. Problems fortify patience.
3…the testing of our faith develops perseverance. (James 1:3)

3. Problems sanctify character.
3 The testing of your faith develops perseverance that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 2:3)

Two ways that God makes us like Jesus:
1. Through the word of God. 17 Sanctify them through your truth. Your word is truth. (John 17:17)

2. Through the circumstances of life.
28 We know that all things work together for good if we love God and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son. (Romans 8:29)

HOW TO HANDLE YOUR PROBLEMS
1. Rejoice 2 Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials …” (James 1:2) 18 In everything give thanks for this is the will of God concerning you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thess 5:18)

2. Request 5 If any of you lack wisdom, you should ask God who give generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to him. (James 1:5)

3. Relax 12 Blessed are those who persevere under trial, because when they have stood the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. (James 1:12)
