This e-portfolio highlights the graduate work that I have completed at the University of West Georgia while studying towards an Educational Specialist Degree in Media with a focus on Instructional Technology.

6. Program Project One Mortimer & Melinda in Windows MovieMaker
Course: 7470 Videotape Production and Utilization
Semester: Spring, 2010
Importance: This course was my introduction to MovieMaker. Mortimer & Melinda was a group project with original script and student and teacher acting talent. I challenged myself to be the final editor and voice talent. I recorded individual voice clips in Audacity, exported them as mp3 files and imported them into MovieMaker. I made some slight changes to the script to fit the images I was provided. This was also the first time I created a title slide in PowerPoint, saved it as a jpeg and then imported that visual into MovieMaker. I have since built on the experience I gained publishing this project, but Mortimer & Melinda was definitely my starting point with MovieMaker.

7. Program Project Two
Using Digital Storytelling to Strengthen Informational Writing
Course: MEDT 7461 Instructional Design
Semester: Summer, 2010
Importance: This is a Professional Development Session providing 3rd -5th Grade Teachers the “why” behind digital storytelling and then the “how”. The session includes participants preparing their own digital story using features including importing voice recording, digital photographs, titles, slide overlays from a sample storyboard. It is designed to build teacher confidence using Windows Movie Maker so they will in turn develop projects to complete with their students.

8. Program Project Three Interview with Technology Stakeholders
Course: 8461 Diffusions of Innovation
Semester: Spring, 2010
Importance: I distributed a written survey electronically to three technology stakeholders in my local school district. I packaged the responses, manipulated the two photographs I was given, and created an organized and interesting presentation of the survey results in PowerPoint.

9. Program Project Four Implemented GoogleDocs Survey
Course: MEDT 8480 Program Evaluation
Semester: Spring, 2011
Importance: I developed the survey in GoogleDocs but then realized I had questions about how the data would be captured and how to get back to the released survey for slight changes. I tested it on myself, but was not confident about how it was working. I was able to speak to a frequent user of this service within my school system. Once I figured it all out, I was pleased with the quantity and quality of teacher participation. Their responses provided insight across all grades and I was able to analyze the data efficiently because it was digital.

10. Program Project Five Formative iRespond Program Evaluation Report
Course: MEDT 8480 Program Evaluation
Semester: Spring, 2011
Importance: I was able to gather, analyze, and present my findings and recommendations using technology. The technology used included Excel, Word, the Snip Tool and GoogleDocs. I also believe the findings and recommendations in this report may help my local school develop an effective plan to continue the implementation of iRespond.

12. Program Reflection
I believe this program has helped prepare me to integrate technology effectively into my student instruction and to advocate for the use of instructional technology within my school district. I continue to learn from my colleagues, students, and the marketplace. As the technology continues to evolve I am committed to keep pace with the changes on an on-going basis so that I can increase my effectiveness as a professional educator.
