3 3. Candid –  (adj.) openly straightforward and direct without reserve or secretiveness; informal or natural In private, I gave them my candid opinion.  4. Incorrigible - (adj.) impervious to correction by punishment  an incorrigible criminal.

4 5. Penury -  (noun) a state of extreme poverty or destitution Haiti’s poorest cities are in a state of penury. 6. Querulous - (adj.) habitually complaining His querulous comments made Mrs. Brimacombe made.

5 7. Spontaneous - (adj.) happening or arising without apparent external cause; said or done without having been planned or written in advance Our vacation was a spontaneous getaway 8. Vex -  (verb) to bring trouble to, or annoy Little guy vexed his mother in Family Guy

6 9. Tranquil -  (adj.) free from agitation or worry; calm I was on the beach reading in the tranquil environment. 10. Summon - (verb) call in an official matter, such as to attend court; ask to come; gather or bring together He summoned up a smile, though it seemed to take all his strength
