2 What Are Angels? Angels are mentioned about 300x in 34 different books of the Bible. The word angel means “messenger.” Angels are real, and they have been created by God. (Psalm 104:4, 148:1-5) Angels are messengers of God (Luke 1:11-13; Acts 27:23-25) Angels are ministering spirits. (Hebrews 1:13-14; Matthew 4:11)

Cherubim- “to till or plough.” (Genesis 3:24; Psalm 80:1) Seraphim- “the burning ones.” (Isaiah 6:1-7) Watcher (Daniel 4:13) Gabriel- “the strength of God.” (Daniel 8:16, 9:21; Luke 1:19, 26-27) Michael- “who is like unto God.” (Jude 9; Revelation 12:7)
