Be sure to get your necessary signatures each practice/meeting!
Make sure your name is at the top!
Turn in your Pink point sheets the week of Sections, April 9-13
If you are not on the Section Team, bring your point sheet to the April 9th mtg.

5. Regular Practices, Section Team - Nieland
This Week:
Please practice at your usual time with your regular coach. Please arrive early as we may be able to start earlier if there is an open time before you.
Discussion: Tuesday – 4:50-5:45 – with MRS. Lyke.
Friday Speakers: reschedule your slot with your coach because there is no school on Friday.
Extemp Speakers: Sign up for an individual spot.
Ex. Speakers/Ex. Readers/Storytellers: Please prep a speech/excerpt/story of your choice prior to arriving to practice.

6. Guest Coach Practices- Lyke

This week, March 26-29; after spring break, April 9-11
Each speaker must attend one guest coach practice, each week.
There is an online sign up – sign up by the night before
You are encouraged to do a 2nd guest-coach-practice if it fits into the coaches’ schedules (encouraged)
Discussion: (1) This week you’re scheduled Tues. 3/27, 4:10-4:50 with MR. Lyke in the Art Area. (2) On 4/9 [Monday] you’re scheduled at 4:55-5:50 with MR. Lyke—room TBD.
Ex. Speakers/Ex. Readers/Storytellers: Please prep a speech/excerpt/story of your choice prior to arriving to practice.

9. Family & Friends Showcase - Adam
Monday, April 9
ALL attend and perform! (Not just the section team)
Bring 1 dozen cookies/bars (beverages are provided)
Meet in the Rocket Center @7 p.m.
After a short overview of the year, you’ll break out into assigned rooms
Done around 8:30 p.m.
Be sure to invite your family, friends, teachers…
This is the same day as our final Team Meeting
If you’re not competing at Sections, turn in Pink Point Sheets at this event

10. Section Meet – April 12 - Nieland
Go to Hours 1-4; Excused Hours 5-8
Must be in school hours 1-4 in order to compete
11:30 – Travel to Godfather’s Pizza
11:30-1:00 – Lunch at Godfather’s (FULL team is invited!)
We have the party room reserved!
Bring money for lunch. See Nieland if this is an issue.
Due to time constraints, all eat at the buffet : $8.99+tax
1:00 – Travel back to JM
1:15 – Board bus for Northfield (leave no later than 1:30)
2:30 – Arrive at Northfield

11. Section Meet Info. - Lyke
Bring lunch/dinner or $$ for lunch/dinner
Dress professionally.
NOTHING too short/too tight/too low cut.
Choose shoes wisely.
Be sure what you wear works for your piece.
Act professionally. Judges see and hear you in the hallways and bathrooms.
Do not talk about judges.
Do not talk about opponents.

12. Section Meet Info. - Adam
City schools will wait outside the room until the judge arrives to enter. Be aware of this practice and do the same.
Informative speakers – Set up your easel/boards inside. Then step outside and wait for the judge.
Top 3 in each category go to STATE, Friday, April 20th at Apple Valley High School
If you CANNOT compete at STATE, you cannot compete at SECTIONS! Let Nieland know ASAP if you are in this situation.

13. Sections – April 12 - Nieland
ALL non-draw categories: 10 minute time limit.
Draw categories: you will draw from ALL stories and/or topics – you will draw for EACH round. 7 minute time limit.
Ex. Spk. & Disco: NO WIFI during prep/rounds.
Discussion: ALL sections from the outline will be fair game.
There is no “Grace” period.
When/if you see the STOP card from the Timer, finish the sentence you are on and look like you ALWAYS end your speech here and in this way.
