Finding UNIT RATE Example 1:
Andy biked 24 miles in 4 hours. If he traveled at a constant speed, how many miles did he ride in 1 hour?
Write a verbal model of what you are comparing.
Substitute in the values given for each quantity.
Since a unit rate has a denominator of 1 unit, divide the numerator and denominator by 4.
Andy biked 6 miles per hour.
