4 The steps to write an argument essay
Select a point of view (yes / no) and write your opinion. Find reasons and evidence to support your point of view. Acknowledge the opposition by summarizing his or her points. Develop a clear, strong thesis statement of your point of view. Write a "hook' or "grabber" that relates to your essay topic. Summarize what you will be writing about. Start writing. Use the guide on the next slide.

6 Body Paragraphs - Reasons (3)
For each reason paragraph you must CLEARLY state your reason and provide evidence/explanation.

7 Counterargument – Paragraph 5
Recognize the other side of the argument. Select a main point of the opposition and explain why this point of view is wrong This can make or break your argument. Be clear and fully explain how your opposition is mistaken.

8 Conclusion – Paragraph 6
Two to three sentences that remind the audience of your main points Finish with a strong sentence. End with a BANG! - a quote, a hook, a call to action.
