The promises of God are not something devised in fleeting moment - Tit 1:2

4. The Value Of The Things Promised
All God’s promises are summed up in one grand and glorious word: SALVATION – 1 Jn 2:24-25; Lk 10:38-42

5. Character Of Promiser Determines Value Of Promises Made
Every day thousands make traditional marriage vows and promises (until death do us part)
Others make promises which go in one ear and out the other
God is not like us – Mal 3:6

6. The Nature Of God’s Promises
Some things God has NOT promised
All of God’s promises fall into two categories
Do God’s promises ever fail?
To save anyone outside of His church
Another chance after this life is over - Tit 2:11-12; Heb 9:27; 2 Cor 6:2
A life free from hardships and burdens - 2 Tim 3:12; Jas 1:2-3, 12
That we have another day to live - Jas 4:13-14
To accept our excuses for not obeying Him - Lk 14:16-24
UNCONDITIONAL -- No limitation
CONDITIONAL -- Promises fulfilled providing certain conditions are met
Unconditional promises never fail - Num 23:19
Conditional promises are contingent upon man's obedience

7. Conclusion:
I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the LORD.

GOD'S PART
The great love of God for man (Jn 3:16)
He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, as the Saviour (Lk 19:10)
Sent the Holy Spirit as a guide (Jn 16:13)
Gave the Gospel as "the power" unto salvation (Rom 1:16)
Provided atonement by the blood of Christ (Rom 5:9)
MAN'S PART
Hear the Gospel (Rom 10:17, Jn 8:32)
Believe the Gospel (Heb 11:6, Jn 20:31)
Repent of past sins (Lk 13:3, Acts 17:30)
Confess faith in Jesus Christ (Rom 10:10, Matt 10:32)
Be Baptized (Gal 3:27, Mk 16:16, Acts 2:38)
Be faithful unto death (Rev 2:10)
