THE SQUARE
2
What makes a quadrilateral a square?
S 1) BOTH pairs of opposite sides are parallel (slope) S 2) BOTH pairs of opposite sides are congruent (length-distance) A 3) BOTH pairs of opposite angles are congruent (same degree measure) A 4) SAME SIDE interior angles (consecutive angles) are supplementary (add to 180 degrees) D 5) DIAGONALS bisect each other(cut each other in half, at the midpoint, making congruent parts) D 6) 1 diagonal splits the parallelogram into 2 congruent triangles plus Rectangle properties: S/A 1) 4 right angles (consecutive sides perpendicular) D 2) diagonals congruent in length (distance) plus Rhombus properties: S 1) All sides equal in length (distance) A 2) Diagonals bisect the ANGLES to which they are drawn (split the angle in half) D 3) Diagonals are perpendicular(slope)
