Core Network is an essential and major component for providing services, sometimes overlooked due to the emphasis placed on radio technologies and spectrum issues
Converged Core Network will evolve to become access independent, provide mobility as a basic capability
Greater attention needs to be paid to the long term (NGN):
where are we going
how are we going to get there
how do we leverage the existing infrastructure
