Notes: Electron Shell Rules
Each shell has a maximum number of electrons it can support. The first three shells hold maximum of: shell 1: 2 electrons shell 2: 8 electrons shell 3: 8 electrons The last shell is called a “valence” shell. It may not be filled to its capacity. If it is filled, it is “stable”.
