2. Important Information
We teach all content areas: reading, math, science, social studies. Within reading, we integrate all of the language arts components.
In addition, the students will have gym, music, art, library, and computer classes. A specials schedule will come home.
Students need rest pads, art shirts, and change of clothing. Please make sure names are on all items.
Parents will need to provide a snack for their child beginning on the first half day.
Please take the Code of Conduct home and review it with your child. Sign the form and return it in your child’s folder.
Remember that the first six days of school are half days. Students are dismissed at 11:45, and there must be an adult to meet them at the bus stop. Lunch is NOT served on the half days.
It takes a little longer for the students to get home on the half days. Also, students could be late on the first few full days.

3. Student Behavior Expectations

We have a behavior system. Students begin the day on green. They may move up and down the clip chart according to the choices they make. Rewards and consequences are given accordingly. A paper will come home explaining this more fully.

4. Teacher Expectations explain classroom expectations and procedures
treat you and your child fairly with respect and kindness
inform you of any learning difficulties and/or behavior issues that may occur in the classroom (We report this information to you to help ensure your child’s success in the classroom.)

reply to s, notes etc. within 1 day (unless the teacher is absent)
use available school resources to help your child

5. Parent/Caregiver Expectations
Check and clean out your child’s folder each night
Go over papers with your child and discuss what he/she has learned
Assist your child with homework
Read class newsletters (Bright Beginnings)
Make sure your child has the supplies he/she needs at school
Inform the teacher of any situations which may affect how your child is learning/ behaving in school (Examples-divorce, death in the family, family health issues, loss of home etc.) We care about your child and want to help him/her through difficult circumstances.
Fill out paperwork in a timely manner.
Respond to notes/ s that are sent home in a timely manner
Attend parent conferences in person or via phone
Ask the teacher questions if you are concerned about something

6. Homework
Homework is usually given nightly. We are required to give approximately ten minutes a night.
It is an extension of skills we have practiced in the classroom.
Make sure your child has a quiet space and materials to complete it properly.
Parents may help with directions and look over it when done, BUT students should mostly complete it independently.
Make sure it is returned to school on the assigned due date which is usually the next day.
If your child needs a homework modification, please let me know.

7. Lunch, Breakfast, Recess, and Rest

cafeteria envelopes are sent home frequently for you to add to your child's lunch account. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD’S NAME IS ON THE ENVELOPE.

Breakfast:
offered daily from 8:30-9:00
optional and is an additional cost
If you want your child to eat breakfast at school, remind them to go to the cafeteria as soon as they get off of the bus.
Recess:
half hour daily
students should have appropriate shoes and dress to be able to participate on the playground
Rest:
send in vinyl rest pad with your child’s name on it
no stuffed animals, pillows, blankets allowed

8. Educational Trips, Birthdays, Absences…
Educational trips should be limited to no more than five school days per year.
Please call the school if your child is going to be absent. Send in a note explaining the absence once your child is feeling better and returns to school. This is important because after 3 unexcused absences, the district is required to meet with you. Absences in excess of 15 per year require a medical excuse.
Guidelines for keeping your children home from school include vomiting, diarrhea, a temperature of more than 100 degrees. Students should be free from symptoms without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
Birthday invitations are to be sent by way of US mail, unless all of the children in the class are invited.
We will celebrate birthdays at school. You may send in a treat the day of your child’s birthday. Individual treats work best. No cakes or cookie cakes that need to be cut and served. Non-edible treats are best due to food allergies.

9. Riding the Bus
Please allow your child to get used to riding the bus. If you are picking up your child, you must put it in writing, show identification to the office, sign out in the office, and wait for the student to be called to the LGI. To pick up your child, you should arrive by 3:30 p.m.
Have your child wear a bus badge for the first month of school.
Write information on bus badges. Verify addresses, phone numbers, bus numbers, etc.
Avoid walking students to the classroom. Adults shouldn’t be in the academic wings without signing in at the office.

11. PTG
Please consider joining the PTG. To be a party parent, a committee member, or chaperone, you need to join!
Please participate in the fundraisers. Profits are used for field trips, special assemblies, and student activities.
The PTG is an integral part of our school and we could not have a successful year without them.

12. Classroom Wishes
Please make sure your child has the needed supplies. Refer to the supply list that was provided to you.
Please make sure all of the student’s school supplies have student names on them.
Please let me know if you have any concerns, questions, or needs.
I will let you know at Open House of other things we may need for our classroom.

13. Kindergarten Children
Look for Miss Rimbey! I’ll be standing at the door!
Bring all of your things to the room and we will go to the lockers together.
