Will Shaw visits his family in Spain for a holiday. The next day they go fishing on a schooner. Will decides to swim to town to fetch medical supplies after Dara was hit by the mast. When he returns to the schooner, his family has disappeared. Will goes to the police and they take him to a man called Zahir. Will flees and with the help of his father, they manage to evade the police. Martin tells Will that he is a CIA agent, and the kidnapers want a briefcase he had taken while on a CIA assignment. Martin meets Jean Carrack in Madrid but she claims that the briefcase is gone. He is then shot by a sniper working for Jean. Will hides after taking his father’s cell phone. The kidnappers contact Will and tell him that he has 21 hours to bring them the briefcase. In the call history, Will finds the name Diego Caldera but the call is answered by Lucia Caldera, his niece. When Will and Lucia arrive at Caldera’s apartment, they find him dead and they also bump

They lure Jean’s sniper into a disco by using a credit card but then let him escape and the sniper leads them to Jean Carrack. They follow her to an underground car park. After a car chase through Madrid, the roles are reversed and Carrack chases them, angry at their interference. The cars collide and Lucia is seriously injured. Just as Carrack is about to shoot Will, she is shot by a sniper, and Zahir retrieves the briefcase. Lucia recovers in hospital and Will is offered a job in the CIA; whether he accepts or not, we don’t know. The CIA refuses to reveal the contents of the briefcase to Will.
