SIP is short for School Improvement Plan. It sets out the aims the school has for the coming session. These aims are designed to help keep the school improving. It’s a way of letting everyone know the things that are important for learners, staff, parents/ carers and our community to keep working on. Equity 1.We will target particular learners to ensure everyone has the chance to be successful. 2. We will try to improve learner attendance at school. 3. We will target families to ensure everyone has the chance to become involved in learning and improvement. 4. We will try to improve the health of our teeth and gums. These aims are about the opportunities we provide for everyone to be successful. These aims are about the ways in which we gather evidence to show how well we are doing. These aims are about making sure everyone has a fair chance or a helping hand. Curriculum Design 1. We will help learners talk about and profile the skills they are developing. 2. We will help teachers focus their planning on what children will learn and how they will know when it has been learned. 3. We will encourage learners, staff and families to become involved in helping us develop reading, PE and digital technology. 4. We will continue to link our school experiences to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Rights Respecting Schools, global citizenship and the principles of Fairtrade. 5. We will encourage our parents and learners in the ELCC to become more involved in shaping our curriculum. Self-Evaluation 1. We will use self-evaluation and evidence-gathering to help us decide what we need to do to improve. 2. We will look closely at assessment evidence to help decide our next steps in learning. Teachers will work closely with other schools to ensure that children at Thornliebank have excellent learning experiences. 3. We will ask learners, staff, families and the community to help us improve our school. These aims are about the ways we plan and create learning experiences.
