Taking a Stand: Does One Voice Matter?

Project Focus: learn about historical and contemporary figures who have taken a stand against some type of injustice. demonstrate how ONE person’s decision to stand for something and speak out against it can have a resounding impact and a huge ripple effect. This project will also be the springboard to the Social Justice 12 Action Project

Final Product: A large life-size cardboard silhouette
images, quotes, and information focus on the ways (methods) one can make one’s voice heard characteristics of a “world- changer” – How can we develop these characteristics in ourselves?

Some Key Components What makes a display excellent?
Research – how to go beyond the “basics” and find multiple sources Christian perspective – power of the tongue, how has God created us to stand for justice Historical social injustices and how people have addressed them as individuals

Big Ideas Project Goals: Students will explore how:
One person’s actions / words can have a huge impact on the world Regular individuals have taken a stand against injustice God cares about injustice and calls each one of us to stand up for what is right (Justice-Seeker) Internet research is more valuable when different perspectives are taken into consideration
