9. Sunken Road- Bloody lane
In the morning Confederate move into position in a old sunken road and hold it till 12pm.
3 hours of combat
Over 5,000 casualties
The union army was able to break the middle of the confederate line.

13. Bridge 3- Burnside Bridge
Bridge #1 was left unoccupied by the Confederates and allowed for most of the Union army to cross.
Bridge #2 was protected by a small force of Confederates but were easily defeated.
Bridge #3- Burnside Bridge
Ambrose Burnside order to take the lower bridge.
Only protected by 800 Conf. Sharpshooters and cannon
Takes 4 1/2 hour for the Union to cross bridge.

18. Aftermath
Lee realizes that the battle in is not going the confederates way and orders a retreat.
McClellan does not chase after Lee whose back is against the Potomac River.
After the battle McClellan is fired.
