About 65 cars for every connector!
The East of England has around 3.3 million cars (total) driving around but only 1,236 EV connectors 2.4% (Oct ‘18) of new cars are EV so we get about 80,000 EVs in EA (approx.) About 65 cars for every connector! More charge points required at destinations and on A roads We need more chargers here in the East of England!

Stage one – The Grannie Lead
Initially you’ll use a 3 pin Not ideal …… These are chargers that look like an extension cable that has a lump in the middle Work great, get you out of sticky situations but are a pain after a while
10
Stage two – Dedicated home charger
Then you’ll get a dedicated charger The Network Zoo These are chargers that look like glorified sockets on the wall, sometimes smart and internet connected, sometimes not There are a multitude of networks out there now and that’s great, but now you need a million apps and RFIDs… ugh Examples: Polar Podpoint Electric Highway Tesla EV Driver
11
Stage three – Public charging
Then you’ll use the public network Public Networks The public networks are a mixture of DC and AC charging Some require membership and annual fees. Some are free if you switch your energy supplier. Access via the right app or RFID fob, a few have contactless payment. Examples: Polar-Chargemaster Pod Point EV Driver Ecotricity
12
Public charging Maps & Apps
Public Map sites There are a multitude of maps out there now for finding public chargers, you just have to use one and get used to it Examples: ZapMap Plugshare Open Charge Map A network’s own app
13
Stage 4- Interoperability Platforms–
Interoperability ‘One Fob or App to Rule Them All’ Eventually you’ll pay a little more to never worry about whether you have the right app or RFID fob, just tap and go Examples: Plugsurfing Hubject Gireve eClearing OCPI Protocol

Business’s will embrace EV
News….. Ride-hailing company Uber will require all new drivers in London to use electric cars by and will transition its entire fleet no later than 2025 What will you do as a building firm when your competitor can bid based on much lower plant machinery running costs? What will you do as a taxi firm when your competitor can undercut you AND the customers prefer to travel in an electric taxi anyway? What will you do as a delivery firm when your competitor can deliver right into a town centre low emission zone and you can’t? What will you do as any company when your competitor is getting all the clients because your business doesn’t reflect your customers environmental attitudes?
15
The Gov’s incentives The Gov. provides a series of grants and the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) are the people who manage them. Home charge scheme – £500 towards cost. Work place scheme- £500 up to 20 chargers= £10,000. Say how we as EVD achieve this and make short not so wordy The Gov.
