1 Chif Ekivalan, Rapò + Pwopòsyon
Matematik Chapit 2 Equivalence, Ratio + Proportion Math Unit 2

2 Pòsyon Egal La fanmi Jean gen 6 moun, yo gen 3 bòl diri pou yo separe ant yo menm. Ki kantite diri chak moun ka jwenn si yo separe diri a egal ant yo? Chak moun nan fanmi an ap jwen mwatye yon bòl diri pou manje. Equal Shares The Jean family of 6 have 3 bowls of rice between them. How much rice will each family member get to eat if all the shares are equal? Each family member will have half of a bowl of rice to eat.

3 Pòsyon Egal La fanmi Joseph gen 3 moun, yo gen 1 bòl diri pou yo separe ant yo memn. Ki kantite diri chak moun ka jwen si yo separe diri a egal ant yo. Chak moun ap jwenn yon tyè bòl diri pou manje. Equal Shares The Joseph family of 3 have 1 bowls of rice between them. How much rice will each family member get to eat if all the shares are equal? Each family member will have one third of a bowl of rice to eat.

4 Pòsyon Egal Equal Shares
La fanmi Louis gen 4 moun, yo gen 2 bòl diri pou yo separe ant yo menm. Ki kantite diri chak moun ka jwenn si yo separe diri a egal ant yo? Chak moun nan fanmi an ap jwen mwatye yon bòl diri pou manje. Equal Shares The Louis family of 4 have 2 bowls of rice between them. How much rice will each family member get to eat if all the shares are equal? Each family member will have half of a bowl of rice to eat.

5 Eksprime yon chif antye
Kijan nou ka reprezante yon pati nan yon chif antye avèk mo, chif e senbòl? Nou ka reprezante bòl diri yo plizyè diferan fason e ki an menm tan ekivalan a youn lòt, nou ka reprezante yo konsa: fraksyon, chif desimal, pousantaj. Ekzanp: Chak moun nan la fanmi Joseph te manje ½ bòl diri, .5 bòl diri oubyen 50% bòl diri. Yon lòt ekzanp: Chak moun nan la fanmi Louis te manje ⅓ bòl diri, .33 yon bòl diri oubyen 33% bòl diri. Expressing Parts of a Whole How do we represent parts of a whole using words, numbers and symbols? The bowls of rice can be represented in many different but equivalent ways: fractions, decimals, percents. For example: Each member of the Joseph family had ½ of a bowl of rice, .5 of a bowl of rice or 50% of a bowl of rice. Another example: Each member of the Louis family had ⅓ of a bowl of rice, .33 of a bowl of rice or 33% of a bowl of rice.

6 Pòsyon Egal Equal Shares
Ki fanmi ki manje plis diri? La fanmi Jean oubyen Joseph? Chak moun nan la fanmi Jean manje plis ke la fanmi Joseph. ½ bòl diri pi plis ke ⅓ bòl diri. ½ > ⅓ (yon mwatye pi plis ke yon tyè). Equal Shares Which family ate more rice? The Joseph family or the Louis family? Each member in the Garcia family ate more than the Rahman family. ½ a bowl of rice is greater than ⅓ a bowl of rice. ½ > ⅓ (one half is greater than one third).

7 Pòsyon Egal Equal Shares
Ki fanmi ki manje mwens? La fanmi Joseph oubyen Louis? Chak moun nan la fanmi Louis manje mwens ke la fanmi Jean yon bòl diri mwens ke .5 yon bòl diri. .33 < % < 50% ⅓ < 1/2 Ou ka ekri konparezon sa plizyè fason. Equal Shares Which family ate less rice? The Joseph family or the Louis family? Each member in the Rahman family ate less than the Garcia family. .5 a bowl of rice is less than .33 a bowl of rice. .33 < % < 50% ⅓ < ⅕ You can write the comparison in several different ways.

8 Fraksyon Ekivalan Equivalent Fractions
Nan tou de fanmi yo kiyès ki manje memn kantite diri? Nan La fanmi Joseph ak Louis chak moun manje ½ yon bòl diri. Nou ka di ke diri yo manje an ekivalan a chak moun. Lè de fraksyon ekivalan, kantite a memn. Equivalent Fractions Which two families had the same amount to eat? The Joseph family and the Louis family each have ½ of a bowl of rice. They have equivalent amounts of rice. When two fractions are equivalent, the amounts are the same but the number of parts and wholes are different.

9 Chif Rapò + Pwopòsyon Ratios + Proportions
Pou kuit diri nou mete 1 gode diri e nou mete 2 gode dlo. Rapò diri ak dlo se 1 gode diri pou 2 gode dlo. Ratios + Proportions To cook rice, 1 cup of rice is added to 2 cups of water. The ratio of rice to water is 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water.

10 Chif Rapò + Pwopòsyon Ratios + Proportions
Nou ka eksprime chif rapò an fraksyon, an senbòl rapò (1:2) e ak mo. Ekzanp: Rapò diri ak dlo se 1 gode diri pou 2 gode dlo. Ou ka ekri li tankou yon fraksyon ½ oubyen tankou yon rapò 1:2. Ratios + Proportions Ratios can be expressed in fraction notation, ratio notation and in words. For example: The ratio of rice to water is 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water. It can also be written as a fraction ½ and as a ratio 1:2.

Ekzanp: Pou chak gode diri mwen bezwen 2 gode dlo. Konbyen gode dlo mwen bezwen pou 3 gode diri. Gode diri 1 3 Gode dlo 2 6 Ratios + Proportions Two ratios that are equivalent to each other are called proportions. When we know that two ratios are in proportion, we can use that to help us find quantities or amounts we don’t know. For example: For every 1 cup of rice I need 2 cups of water. How many cups of water do I need for 3 cups of rice? Cups of rice Cups of water 6
