1 Primary Newsletter – Friday 11th January 2019
Remember that the school gates open at 8:35am and school starts at 9am. Please ensure that your children are at school on time, ready to start their lessons. Thank you! WELCOME BACK! We hope you had a lovely Christmas and a fantastic start to the new year! Well done to all the children who completed their Christmas Reading Challenge! We’ll let you know who our winners are in due course. We have lots of exciting things happening this term – Year 5 will be having Bikeability training, where they will gain practical skills and understanding on how to cycle on today’s roads, receiving the skills and confidence for all kinds of cycling. Letters will be sent out soon, but in the meantime, you can find out more information on their website – We have a poetry competition and some fantastic class assemblies coming up as well. All children from year 2 to year 6 will now be using homework diaries. Homework & spellings will be written in the diaries each week, so parents can see the homework their children are receiving. Diaries also provide an effective way for parents to communicate with the class teacher regarding any queries or concerns. We would ask all parents to sign the diary each Friday, ready to be checked on Monday. We will now be moving to a half-termly newsletter, so this will be our last weekly newsletter. All celebrations (found on the back of this page) will be tweeted weekly, so make sure you follow SMA - KINDNESS– QUOTE OF THE WEEK “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see” - Mark Twain
