1 Mrs. Hart’s World Cultures Class
Rules and Procedures

2 Procedures------Beginning Class
Each scholar will enter their classroom, get their Interactive Notebook from the shelf, sharpen their pencil, sit in their assigned seat and get started quietly on the essential questions on the board. Scholars that enter the classroom after the tardy bell rings, will be counted tardy to class. There are consequences by the office for tardies. If you are absent, you can give me your excuses and I will turn them into Mrs. Ledbetter in the office, or you can turn them into the office on the way to the cafeteria in the morning when you get to school.

3 Procedures----(cont.) Beginning class
4. I will assign you a seat in groups that will rotate through the year. 5. To get your attention, I will raise my hand and say, “May I have your attention please?” You will be quiet, mouth closed and raise your hand. If you notice someone around you that isn’t following suit, then please show them the signal without talking.

4 Procedures----(Cont.) Beginning class
7. When the PA comes on you will be silent and frozen wherever you are or what you are doing to hear for yourselves and myself what is being said.

5 Procedures----Class Management
Students will not leave their seats while the teacher is teaching or talking. Pencil sharpening will be done at the beginning of class. When you are using map colors or in the case that your lead does break, you will need to raise your hand in order to sharpen map colors or pencils and go quietly to the sharpener and get it completed quickly and quietly returning to your seat without any talking, excess noise. Students will follow CHAMPS and will use the signal that is shown by the magnet placed next to it everyday. This will give you the knowledge of what is expected for every class period.

6 Procedures----(cont.)class management
4. CHAMPS will give you the expectations for Conversation, Help, Attention, Movement, Success that is expected everyday for class. 5. When students are sharing their presentations, scholars will be quiet, respectful, attentive, and giving 100% attention to the presenter. 6. If you need to borrow or are missing supplies, please talk to me before class starts. 7. Before every class period, materials will be put out for your use, or you will be told if you need to bring any other materials for use.

7 Procedures----Paperwork
When turning in paperwork, students at the row, or the last one will pass their papers to the person in the front, and that person will take the papers, and will turn them into the class file on the wall that states the particular class period you are in. If you are absent, I will have a file for make up work ready and you will go to the date and will take a copy of what is in there for makeup work. When papers need to be passed out, I will give the first person in the row enough papers for everyone there and each scholar will take a paper for themselves and will pass them back until every scholar has one. If any extra are there, the last person will raise their hand and tell me.

8 procedures----(cont.)paperwork
4. Late assignments will having 3 points off each day until it is turned into me. After two days of not receiving your paper, I will then add your name to the ICU list and your parents will be notified of your placement on the ICU and you will then be given a slip to attend ICU at lunch. You will remain there until the missing assignment is turned in and I have signed your slip. If your assignment is unsatisfactory work(failing), you will remain on ICU until satisfactory work is completed and turned into me. 5. Your name, class period and date will need to be on every paper your turn in everyday. I do not take papers with no names, they end up in the trash can.

9 Procedures----leaving class
When the bell rings to signal class is over, I will be the one to release you to your next class. You do not line up at the door to wait for the bell to ring, you stay in your seat and wait for me to say, “You may go.” If you aren’t finished with an assignment, I can give you a pass to class so you will not be tardy. I will decide if you need to stay and will let your teacher know if you need a few minutes to complete the assignment. If it is going to take longer than 5-10 minutes I will set up a time for you to come finish. I can keep you after the bell if you interrupt my class time with excessive talking, disruptions.

10 procedures----(cont.) Leaving class
