PE=protective efficacy. ARR=absolute rate reduction per 100 children-years. IPTpd=intermittent preventive therapy post-discharge. PE was calculated from adjusted hazard ratios obtained from Cox regression for repeated events. ARR was calculated as the adjusted HR × incidence rate per child-year in the placebo group.
