1 Sound & Light Foldable Take 2 pieces of paper and fold them hamburger style so that you have four flaps. Cut the top flap in half.

2 Flap One: Cut in half On the top left flap, label it Sound.
On the top right flap, label it Light.

3 Flap 2: Sound & Light Waves
Inside: On the sound side, start at the top and write how frequency and pitch are related. Sound travels fastest in what medium: solid, liquid or gas? See your tuning fork lab for help. Then, draw and label a longitudinal wave. Make sure to label compressions and rarefactions. Make a note that the trough of a sine curve used to represent a sound wave corresponds to the rarefaction. Label an appropriate wavelength: measured from compression to compression or rarefaction to rarefaction. On the light side, draw and label a transverse wave. Be sure to label trough, crest, wavelength, amplitude, etc.

4 Flap 3: Label Electromagnetic Spectrum
Draw, label, and color the electromagnetic spectrum. Draw & label the electromagnetic spectrum from radio waves to gamma rays, including visible light. Make sure you color your drawing. Show the direction of increasing frequency and energy.

5 Flap 4 Label: Doppler Effect
Explain the Doppler Effect and illustrate with a drawing. Be sure to label where the pitch would be perceived as higher and lower from the frame of reference of a bystander.
